The Ohio branch of Howyk's Havanese has two beautiful females: Ginger and her daughter, Shelly. We have also just added a gorgeous new male to our family: Simon. And, as I've assured my husband many times: our stable is definitely FULL! We plan to enjoy these wonderful dogs, and feel so blessed to have each and every one of them. (10 months later:) Oops! I spoke too soon! We have also added a SECOND beautiful male to our family. Read about all of our wonderful dogs below.

We first picked Ginger up on Valentine's weekend, 2003. She was the cutest little thing we'd ever seen! She first paid homage to the big guy, our Bouvier, Caesar. She then began bonding to each family member individually. She knows who is most likely to play with her, give her a treat, and whose feet make the comfiest pillows. We can't imagine our home or family with her.
Ginger and Caesar are the very best of friends.
Here's our sweet girl at 7 months old
Ginger loves to play and cuddle with kids. After 3 years I have finally realized, the novelty will never wear off! She is a constant focus of fun and attention in our home.
She has grown into such a lovely dog. She is cream, with black ears and tail. She also has a beautiful saddle of color across her back: copper, black & silver. She is a strong, sturdy and athletic dog. She is a wonderful pet and a fantastic mother. We adore her.

Here is Shelly. She is the youngest puppy from Ginger's 3/26/05 litter. We just fell in love with her sweet, loving personality, and decided she needed to stay right here with us. She's a wonderful addition to our family. Here she is at 4 weeks old.
She LOVED being introduced to the backyard at 6 weeks old. She has always loved our Bouvier, Caesar. Perhaps she somehow sensed she would be staying with us, and that he would become her "big brother."
Hanging out in the kitchen.
Ten weeks old, and having fun.
4 months old! Shelly is a sweet, affectionate puppy. She has a calm, sweet personality, and is so eager to please. She happily greets everyone she meets. She has such a thick, soft coat which is fun to stroke when she cuddles in my lap. She's always ready to play with the kids. We are having so much fun with her.
Shelly's beautiful coat has continued to grow. Here she is at 5 1/2 months, proudly wearing her first little pony tail to keep the hair out of her eyes. What a big girl she is becoming! She continues to have the sweetest Havie personality. I have yet to hear her bark!
8 months old! Shelly is outside with Emily, practicing for her first dog show at the end of November, 2005. We're fairly sure her lack of training will show, but it will be a fun adventure. And, we are so proud of what a gorgeous girl she is. It will be fun to show her to friends who will be there.
Here is Opa with Ginger and Shelly. When he came for a visit, the girls decided that his lap was a wonderful place to relax. The social, friendly nature of a Havanese is one of their most endearing qualities.
Here's our lovely Shelly at 2 years old, saying goodbye to one of her sweet puppies. She's a loving and gentle dog, and a wonderful mother.
Here's a picture of Shelly taken on 1/15/08 - she's matured into a sweet, loving, gorgeous female. She loves to play and fetch, and is a wonderful cuddler. We adore her! Her coat has continued to change color. She went from sable to cream to red, and now she's going back to sable. So fun!

Thanksgiving 2005 brought our family an additional blessing for which to be thankful! We had the opportunity to purchase this gorgeous black male. When we got the word, Emily and I took off the next morning in a snow storm to bring him home the day before Thanksgiving. It was definitely an interesting adventure. He is going to be one spoiled boy. He will live with our good friends, Scott & Debbie, who are a half mile from us. He'll enjoy playing here with the "girls" when Debbie works in the mornings, and then go home with her to be spoiled some more. We think he will eventually be a great match for both Ginger and Shelly. He is everything we were looking for in a male: dark color and pigment, short-backed, and of course, well bred. His parents and grandparents are all champions. His grandfather and great-grandfather were each the #1 Havanese in Canada during their show careers. This little guy is a knock-out. Thank you Rachel and Danell of Delta Dawn Havanese for entrusting this very special & gorgeous boy with us.
Simon has quickly captured everyone's hearts. We are all enjoying his sweet, confident, alpha personality. Emily will take him to junior showmanship class in March, and at this point we definitely plan to have him in the ring this spring.
Nice Profile! We love his solid, compact structure and his gorgeous head.
What a dapper young lad!
Havanese love to meet and be with other animals. When they meet another Havanese, they usually become fast friends. Such is the case with Simon and Shelly.
Simon says, "Help me!"
11 weeks old, and loving the snow! He's quite a character, with loads of personality.
Simon has developed into an absolutely incredible dog. Here he is at 8 months old. We are very proud of him. His accomplishments in the show ring are posted on the "Show Brags Page."

Well, we THOUGHT our stable was full, but when I saw this little boy's beautiful face, I knew we could make room for one more VERY special male. We were given the opportunity to get him from Charlene Wallace, Beseme Havanese in Utah. Check out her gorgeous dogs: www.besemehavanese.com His mother is Charlene's beautiful "Kizzy" (CH Liveoak's Southern Charm) and his father is Debra Kahn's gorgeous "Rio" (CH Shelley's Rickie Ricardo.) Here's Debra's email to contact her about Bristol's awesome dad: debrakahn@kwest.net Thank you SO much Charlene and Debra for allowing us to purchase this wonderful puppy. Emily is counting the days until he is 6 months old and she can begin showing him. We think he's going to make quite a splash in the ring!
Charlene flew Bristol out to his new home here in Ohio on 8/17/06. Now that's what I call a dedicated breeder! It was great to meet Charlene, and of course, we were thrilled with Bristol! We love his gorgeous, very colorful coat and his beautiful face. He is a small, beautifully put together puppy.
Bristol will live with Simon, just a half mile away with our great friends Scott and Debbie. "The boys" are over here most days, and have already formed a close bond.
We're having entirely too much fun with this gorgeous little boy!
Peek a Boo!
Bristol and Emily are having a great time together. They have started taking conformation classes. Watch for them in the show ring in October!
Here he is at 5 months old. We are absolutely thrilled with this beautiful little boy. What a gorgeous face he has!
Bristol traveled 525 miles to Richmond, VA in October, 06 to attend the Havanese Nationals. He was SUCH a good traveler! He was able to see his mother, brother and sister there, as well as his first "Mom", Charlene. It was fun to show him off! He is developing into such a special boy! We are very proud of him. What a gorgeous coat, and beautiful structure!
Here he is at 13 months old - fully grown. He's a tiny little guy (8 lbs.) - so adorable and so sweet. We're crazy about him! We LOVE his gorgeous, brindled sable color.
He has grown into such a gorgeous male. Here he is, keeping a careful eye on two large English Sheepdogs nearby. :) We had such fun showing him at the AKC show in Lexington. He is much smaller than the other dogs, and his coat is "too silky" but we love showing him off anyway!! :)
He has gorgeous structure, a perfect bite, and he has kept his wonderful brindled sable color. He has also passed all of his health testing with flying colors, including his recent OFA hip grade of "Good." Yea! He's a treasure.
Best of all, he's an adorable little cuddle bug!
NEW FLASH: Bristol became a Daddy on 1/24/08. See pictures of his GORGEOUS babies on the Nursery Page. Three other breeders with gorgeous females have requested breeding to Bristol in Spring, 08. He'll be busy producing some absolutely amazing puppies. We are so proud of him. He's our little treasure!
